Mata Hati
Hijjaz – Mata Hati
Pandangan mata selalu menipu
Pandangan akal selalu tersalah
Pandangan nafsu selalu melulu
Pandangan hati itu yang hakiki
Kalau hati itu bersih
The vision of the eye always lies
The vision of the intellect always errs
The vision of the ego always strays
The vision of the heart will be true
If that heart is pure
Hati kalau selalu bersih
Pandangannya akan menembusi hijab
Hati jika sudah bersih
Firasatnya tepat kehendak Allah
If the heart is always kept pure
Its vision will penetrate the veil
If the heart is fully purified
Its intuition will accord with the will of Allah
Tapi hati bila dikotori
Bisikannya bukan lagi kebenaran
But the heart when it has been dirtied
Its whisperings are no longer truthful
Hati tempat jatuhnya pandangan Allah
Jasad lahir tumpuan manusia
Utamakanlah pandangan Allah
Daripada pandangan manusia
The heart is the place where the vision of Allah falls
The physical body is Man’s focus
Place the vision of Allah first
Over the vision of Mankind

Hati tempat jatuhnya pandangan Allah
Jasad lahir tumpuan manusia
Utamakanlah pandangan Allah
Daripada pandangan manusia
Hati tempat jatuhnya pandangan Allah
Jasad lahir tumpuan manusia
Utamakanlah pandangan Allah
Daripada pandangan manusia
MashaAllah nice nice wonderful translation!
I would prefer to translate
Pandangan nafsu selalu melulu
to
The vision of the desire always strays
nafsu is taken from the arabic of ‘nafs’, which can mean human-self, desire, instinct, and lust.
I love this song very much since I first heard it about 13 years ago. Do you translate Raihan songs? I am bad at Malay-English translation. I remember of an event last few years during Indiana University’s Muslim Student Association Coffee Hour when my friend John Bava sang the ‘syukur’ nasheed in front of the audience (and he did not even now the meaning).
sy x brapa pandai translate BM ke BI jd boleh tak bagitau camna nak ckp “melihat dari mata hati” dlm BI. tema ksh ^^
“to see with the eyes of the heart” or “to see from the heart”, I suppose.

Granfalloon (n) : "A proud and meaningless association of human beings." A word coined by Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007) in his book Cat's Cradle. I was recalling the concept recently for some reason but couldn't bring the term to mind. There it is: A granfalloon. The idea is illustrated in the book by a woman from Indiana who is just thrilled to meet Hoosiers everywhere she goes, a Hoosier being a name for people from the state of Indiana, but the shared qualities she recognizes in Hoosiers exists only in her own mind. Thanks, Kurt.
